Sprocket wheel is a wheel with cogged chain teeth, which is used to mesh with blocks with accurate pitch on the link or cable. Sprocket wheel is widely used in chemical industry, textile machinery, escalator, wood processing, three-dimensional parking garage, agricultural machinery, food processing, instrumentation, petroleum and other industries.

The service life of sprocket wheel is short, which can not meet the requirements of production practice. According to the use status, processing status and manufacturing technology of sprocket wheel, some improvement measures are proposed for sprocket wheel:

(1) The original sprocket wheel design material is 40Cr, the overall tempering hardness is hb220 ~ 250, and the tooth quenching hrc48 ~ 52. This method can not improve the wear resistance of sprocket wheel on the basis of the limited quenching hardness of teeth. It is suggested that the sprocket wheel material be changed to 20CrMnTi, carburized and quenched. The hardness of the chain socket can reach over HRC60, and its wear resistance is more than 2.5 times that of 40Cr material. In this way, the service life of the sprocket wheel can be greatly improved, the frequency of machine repair can be reduced, the productivity can be increased, and the production cost can be reduced;

(2) The shape of the original sprocket wheel chain socket is directly formed by forging, so the size error is large, the surface is rough, and the wear resistance is reduced. With the wide application of CNC machine tools and the reduction of processing cost, it is suggested to leave a little allowance after forging and finish the machining by numerical milling to improve the dimensional accuracy and surface roughness, so as to achieve the purpose of improving the wear resistance
